Our Curriculum
Below are just a few of the key elements taken from our extensive and inclusive curriculum
Quality learning
Our curriculum is designed to recognise pupil’s prior learning, provide quality learning experiences for all, allow pupils to develop their knowledge and skills, build resilience and become responsible citizens
Develop key skills
We ensure that all pupils develop key skills and knowledge, in order to become effective learners We recognise that every pupil is an individual and we celebrate the differences within our school community
The Whitgreave Wheels
This consists of three curriculum drivers that underpin our curriculum, in line with our school’s vision and aims, therefore responding to the particular needs of the community. They are Pupil Power, Community and Knowledge of the World
Clear curriculum maps
Each year group ensure that each teacher has clarity as to what to cover, in addition to ensuring progression. The curriculum is taught in blocks, in order to ensure that learning is more focussed and that time is spent aspiring to develop a depth of understanding
Focus Days and Weeks
These are placed throughout the academic year, in order to further enhance teaching and learning within the curriculum. These include ‘World Book Week’ & ‘British Science Week’ which also includes a parental engagement event
Pupil Power Passports
Their aim is to support children to acquire and develop skills for life (such as budgeting, cooking, first aid and personal hygiene), build Cultural Capital and support children to be respectful, responsible citizens

A healthy relationship with food
Hot meals are available at school every day and are cooked fresh within our kitchens. Children within Reception, Year 1 and Year 2 are entitled to a universal free school meal on a daily basis.
Pupils are encouraged to make healthy choices when eating at school by providing them with the correct foods.
Why Is This Important?
Explore New Flavours: We encourage pupils to try new foods and broaden their meal choices.
Build Healthy Habits: Enjoying a variety of meals helps pupils develop healthy eating habits that last.
